Mobile browsing and DC

Sun Mar 04, 2012 1:17 am

The forum should now automatically switch to a mobile style when it detects a mobile browser. For some browsers - e.g., tablets - this may not be desired, and the full version of the forum may be preferred. If so, users on a mobile browser will now have an extra option at the foot of each page, which allows you to switch back and forth between the mobile and full styles, per the following screenshots:

Leaving on vacation tomorrow, so I'll try it out.

Let me know how it goes. I've done some basic testing with the resources I have available - my phone, switching up the user agent on my comp's browser - but there are plenty of cases I just don't have the ability to test.

Something like that :)

I have a problem with the mobile version. When I go unti a multi page threaD that has no new lists, it takes me to the first page only. How di I get to the last post easily? And another problem...when I reply in my phone, the keyboard completely covers the text box. There is ni scrolling space below the text box that can be used as a scroll buffer.

I use a Droid and would like to either make this permanently disappear or have an easier wat to switch to full version, preferably at the top.

Thanks for trying, though. I'm probably just too conservative ;-)

That should be fixed shortly. In the mean time, if you're on any page, pull down the pagination menu (the one marked by the "#"), and you can select any page to jump to, including the last.

Did you try switching from landscape to portrait, or vice-versa?

I'll probably stick with it at the bottom, just to keep things from being too cluttered. As for automatically and always steering you to the full version, I'd have to hard code an exception just for you, and I'll have to think about whether I want to do that.

Doesn't matter. The text box is at the bottom of the display in either mode. When I go to type, the on screen keyboard covered the text box. In portrait mode, I get about 60% of the top ine visible. In landscape, you can for get it. Nothing I type is visible. If blank space could be put at the bottom of the window, it would give blank overlap space for the keyboard.

Weird. This is what I get:

Try long pressing in the text box and see if another input method works better :-k

I found the problem. Post reply does what your display does. But when I do Quick Reply, this is the screen I get. The keyboard is over the text box.

Gotcha. If I hit quick reply, I can still slide the text box out from under the keyboard by holding my finger above the subject line and dragging. See if that works.
