Server/Network rack

Wed Feb 29, 2012 2:27 am

Decided to play around with my very own server "farm". This is some of the gear I am racking up.

(I wonder if I could rent it out to FreeRepublic? )

No rack, you big LIAR. But I like it!!

actually pride myself on turning my older Dell Poweredge 2900/2950s and HP G5/G6 into fucking monsters by stuffing them with consumer level OCZ SSDs in RAID 10, and upping the RAM to 16-32GB and Hyper-Ving the whole thing. Ever seen a single Dell 2950 chassis with 16GB host 4 Windows Server 2008 R2 servers at 50-80% processor burn at full load on all servers and still beg for more?

See that top SAN/DAS array you have there? Load it up with $300 SSD drives (cheaper than the fucking Dell SATA/SAS drives), and you could peak any SAN fiber you can find outside of Infiniband. On each channel.

And WTF are those switches?

I'll take a pic of my tiny cluster in a data center that I host Exchange with. PCI-E SSD cards and such.

Ooooooh...

Print out a picture of Paul Ryan, put it on the rack, then take a picture of the rack and post it here, and see if we can dial Shryke up to a 11...

Apologies to anyone living within a few miles of the guy. I think it'll wash away with the next rain.
