OK, If someone can tell me how to do Tables, I can make this clearer. Make what you can of these. I have not identified the specific polls. If a number has a ".5", then it's the average of typically 2 polls.

Not a poll, but this type of thing spells big trouble for Romney:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/ ... story.html

How can the Republicans be fielding such a pathetic field to run against Nero? Nero is so weak that all the Rep field does is actually give him a chance.. Nero should have approvals in the 20s.

Ooking at the polls, Obama is a strong candidate. Almost half the country likes his class warfare policies.

We may have reached a critical mass of stupidity and ignorance. If so, there won't be any going back.

The economy has been somewhat improving. Obama gets the credit for it. But with gas prices climbing, and likely to hit over $4 a gallon over the summer, there is a chance, if the GOP can hang Keystone XL and other stuff around his neck.

Unless Obama can change the subject... as he has managed to do with his attack on religious freedom.

Well, I guess you're right, if that 48% figure is correct, nearly half the country is getting paid to vote for Obama.

Obama's talk about the "wealthy" paying their "fair share," to be determined by himself on behalf of the beneficiaries (allegedly everyone from the middle class on down, but in reality, the beneficiaries are members of Congress and unions) is damn well the same thing as "to each according to their needs, from each according to his ability."

Because none of the "qualified" Republicans wanted to run (or could be found.)

You have the right of that. I'm not sure Marx meant his quote to be used that way, but that's definitely the effect of it :)

Re: The Vastly Underimproved Poll Thread

It seems that Gingrich benefits from debates which is why neither Romney or Santorum are interested in debating anymore. Santorum's surge really ought to motivate Romney to debate, since Santorum is surging without debates, so Romney could do no worse than debate.

Wonder when the Santorum "sex exclusively for reproduction" quote makes him tank in the polls..... Yup, even for married couple, Santorum believes sex is only permissible when trying to conceive.

17-Feb

18-Feb
MA Romney 48
Santorum vs Nero Nero 8
Romney vs Nero Nero 8

19-Feb
in IA, Nero vs Paul Paul 7
in IA, Nero vs Gingrich Nero 14
in IA, Nero vs Santorum Santorum 4
in IA, Nero vs Romney Romney 2
Nero vs Romney Nero 4
Nero vs Santorum Nero 6

The new numbers are interesting. First, forget the national Nero vs whoever numbers. Those include places like New York, California, Massachusetts, etc. The real important numbers are for those states that Nero won, marginally and Iowa is one of those. It appears in Iowa that anybody but Nero is doing well (well, except for Newt). That is bad news for Nero. The other interesting thing is Paul. Paul, in order to get better numbers than Santorum or Romney, must appeal to non-traditional Republican voters. That may be a different route to victory other than the usual one. But Paul appears to have little chance at the nomination, meaning that the Republicans may not field their best candidate. I look to forward to numbers in other swing states to see if these trends continue.

Not a poll, but it is interesting to note that the Right is targeting Olympia Snowe. Could Maine elect a conservative?

Not likely, however, the Good News is that the GOP Essence may be further Purified by replacying Snowe by a Democrat.

Testifying to the benefits of the ideals of small government and personal freedom. Santorum won't "stop the bleeding" or whatever bullshit those who quake in their boots at the thought of a second Obama term might argue. I am far from the only who thinks this way. If Santorum wins the nomination, he's going to lose in the general election, and lose big.

:hesaid:
Santorum is a statist theocon that wants to use government to impose ideology. No different than Obama except in the spectrum frequency of statism imposed. Can't support Obama and can't support Santorum. Best bet is to have a GOP congress and a dem president, even if it is Zero. Of Santorum is the best the GOP can do, the GOP deserves to lose.

Re: The Vastly Underimproved Poll Thread

Michigan GOP race tightens
The Republican race for President in Michigan has tightened considerably over the last week, with what was a 15 point lead for the Statist theocon (Rick Santorum) down to 4. He leads with 37% to 33% for the Liberal squish (Mitt Romney), 15% for Ron Paul, and 10% for Newt Gingrich.

The tightening over the last week is much more a function of the weather-vane (Romney) gaining than the Bible-thumper (Santorum) falling. ...

A Santorum presidency may allow the GOP in Congress to do a bit better. Judicial appointments would be better than Obama's. It's not clear that the Congressional GOP will take advantage of such a situation, but continual pressure should be applied.
