Need to add Walgreens and Arby's to the list. Don't these sponsors know the complainants are hippies. And hippies have no money to spend?

so, according to the list, bonobos are not sponsoring Rush. I'd think that it is no great loss.

It would be interesting to compare that list with a list of Rush's sponsors prior to fracas du Fluke ...

Does this mean that all these businesses believe the populace at large should be required to provide free contraceptives for college students? Or that they believe the one percent should be required to do this? Or that they support leftism?

They're making a political statement and taking sides whether they realize it or not. One wonders why they sponsored a political editorial show in the first place, if they fear controversy, which they now cannot escape.

I see that John Deere is on the list. Probably a sure thing that their customer base, farmers, want to boycott Rush, right?

Well, it sure puts a new slant on 'Nothing Runs Like A Deere', don't it? -- "OMG Political controversy!? Run away, run away!"

:P

I nearly bought a John Deere mower last week. I wish I'd know about this, I'd loved to have asked the redneck salesman about it who came out to the farm to talk about their stuff.

You probably still have his number. You could give him a call.

"Hey, Bill? I thought I'd get back to you about that mower. I did say I'd think it over, you may recall."

"Anyway, I heard a rumor, and I hope you'll be able to put my mind at ease . . ."

.

It could be considered a dirty trick, but what the hell.

Most of these sponsors will return as time goes on.

Walgreens sells contraceptives, both prescription and OTC types.

Maybe now they'll just give them away free?

I definitely have his number and name. Most people regard John Deere stuff as good quality, albeit expensive, but the same people who use farm equipment don't vote Democrat that much.

It would be good for the company to hear from its customers. I can imagine a few calls to sales people and it would start getting back to HQ.

It's probably not a good idea to politicize the economy. But chances are, it's a bit too late for that.

It mustn't be forgot
a boycott's worth is not
the perpetrator's caterwaul.
A year from now, they'll be long gone,
as time goes on.

Agreed that it's not, but it's John Deere and the other boycotters who are doing it.

Dems through Media Matters have already done that. Never forget that they believe a free market economy is a bad economy.

I doubt Rush will allow most of them to return. As I recall he's already said no to some who've attempted to crawl back. Rush has far and away the highest rated show in talk radio. He has to have a huge backlog of wouldbe sponsors wanting spots. Why reward fickleness and disloyalty when a lesson can be taught at no cost (and indeed at some benefit) to Rush?

I wonder how many of the CEOs deciding to drop Rush are doing so with complete awareness of MM and their full agenda, versus how many of them are just being conned by the PC grievance-wailing crowd?

The main goal of Media Matters is to get enough big sponsors to drop Rush so that Clear Channel will drop his show. Lefty Radio on satellite radio has said the next phase is to threaten to boycott businesses that advertize on any Clear Channel show until Clear Channel drops Rush.

If I owned Clear Channel, I'd simply tell them:

"You want to control the content, buy Clear Channel, if you've got big enough dicks to pee in my pool, which I doubt. Until then, shut the fuck up. Oh, and I'm raising my advertising rates 30% across the board, across all shows. You want to fuck with me, you can pay for the privilege. Oh, and I've already passed Rush some of the more interesting product-liability suits filed against your companies. How would you like that shit broadcast over the Golden EIB Microphone during their commercial breaks? Your competitors might decide to buy the airtime and not even advertise, just to let Rush badmouth your crappy product; how would you know? How would your newly-made butt-fuck buddies at Media Matters know who to boycott? Of course, you could just pay a 50% premium over my new 30% higher ad rates to keep adverse shit about your products off the air. Think about it, friends. I own the transponders on those birds, not you."

I'd also organize a counter-boycott against Media Matters, and I'd probably do some stuff to rat-fuck them (false leaks from inside Clear Channel to wrong-foot them, that sort of thing).

You try to extort me, I will do anything within the letter of the law to return the favor. I was trained early on in life to close with and destroy the enemy by fire and maneuver, and to repel the enemy's assault by fire and close combat. The life experience carries over well into commerce. Business is war, baby, and I was trained to fight wars long before I was trained in business.

Media Matters has announced additions of its list of sponsors who have dropped Rush: Eastern Airlines, Woolworth's, the Pullman Company, the Studebaker Corporation, Postal Telegraph, American Woolen Corporation, Baldwin Locomotive, and DePinna.

OK, I freely admit I will continue to be a customer of Netflix and Turbo Tax, but the others? Nope.

(I have no choice but to remain a customer of Aetna. The firm pays for it.)
