First of all, while you are certainly entitled to your opinion, I think your comment toward Dr. Lao was unwarranted and pardon the expression, rather trollish.

Secondly, I am not under any allusions that Nixon and those involved in Watergate were ever conservatives. And that includes Coleson; both before and after his “religious conversion”.

In fact what I do know of Coleson’s post conversion views on the death penalty, on not incarcerating but only the most violent criminals, of allowing convicted felons to vote, of “everybody can be rehabilitated through Bible studies, etc. are not what I consider “conservative” unless you consider the so called “compassionate conservatism” anything more than touchy feely liberalism with a dash of Evangelicalism with a dash of “say you’re sorry and all is forgiven”, but then your mileage may vary.

My question to Dr. Lao and to Dr. Stochastic (and not you BTW) was not an argument with either of them but more just an honest question as to why they thought Colson was still, or at least recently and prior to his death, a nasty and terrible person.

I for one think Colson did seem to be a TRVE believer and convert. That doesn’t however mean he wasn’t necessarily still an A-hole; just perhaps a different sort of A-hole – and G-D knows I’ve known enough of them. I was only asking for some examples of such and not making a judgment either way.

I'd be happy to retract it if you can think of a public person, especially a conservative, that he said he liked.

But then they would start hating themselves for kissing and making up. I would suggest smiling, cracking a joke, then three thousand drops [each], then cracking another joke, and smiling again.

Lets see: William F. Buckley, Steve Forbes, Barry Goldwater, John Huntsman for starters.

Lots more, but its late, and I have been up since 6 am laying people off and ruining their lives and feeling like shit because of it.

Keep closing that big tent, enjoy Obama for 4 more years.

How was it put? "The string players are neurotics, the brass players are boors, and as for the percussionists - why, I had an acquaintance, a drummer. He married a whore. And would you believe it? - in only two weeks she sank to his level!"

What's the difference between a saxophone and a lawn mower?
The grip.

What's the difference between a baritone saxophone and a chain saw?
The exhaust.

Small wonder we have so much trouble with air pollution in the world when so much of it has passed through saxophones.

What's the difference between a sax player and the rear end of a horse?
I don't know either.

A saxophonist comes home late from a gig... Too tired to carry his sax upstairs, he decides to leave it in the car overnight. When he wakes up he heads to his car and sees the back window smashed in. He looks inside he sees two saxes.

What's the last thing a saxophonist says in a band?
"Hey guys, wanna try one of my songs?"

What do a saxophone and a baseball have in common?
People cheer when you hit them with a bat.

Why did Adolph Sax invent the saxophone?
He hated mankind but couldn't build an atomic bomb.

There are very few jokes about the clarinet. This is out of sympathy. The clarinet has already been the butt of so many jokes - the saxophone, for instance.

The soprano, not being smart enough to use birth control, says to her saxophonist lover, "Honey, I think you better pull out now."
He says, "Why? Am I sharp?"

A man has been trapped on an island for several years when he sees a small wake in the water. After a time, a lovely lady scubadiver rises from the surf. She walks to the man and exclaims, " You must be miserable, how long has it been since you have had a great smoke?"
While the deranged man stammered for an answer, the lovely lady unzips the side pocket on her sleeve, and produces a Cuban cigar.
She gazes into the now-smoking man's face and whispers, "and how long has it been since you have had a real drink"? Again the man stammers as she unzips her other sleeve to produce a flask of ancient Brandy. As she teasingly unzips the main zipper to her wetsuit, she asks, "And how long has it been since you have known real pleasure?"

The man scrambles to his feet and yells "Oh my God, you've got a sax?!"

George Vujnovich dies at 96; leader of daring World War II rescue

In 1944, as head of the Office of Strategic Services in Bari, Italy, George Vujnovich guided a team of agents who worked with Yugoslav guerrilla leader Draza Mihailovich to airlift more than 500 airmen from a makeshift runway carved on a mountaintop in Nazi-occupied Yugoslavia.

The World War II air rescue mission, "Operation Halyard," was relatively obscure until the 2007 release of "The Forgotten 500," a book by Gregory Freeman.

Yep, it's too hard to find in the US and when you do it's damned expensive. You feel like you've been luted by the store and when you're on a limited budget buying it is fiskally irresponsible.
