Fighting on DC

Many know I retreated back to TOS, mostly because as much as I love DC, I needed to be part of a fist to hit back at the obozo regime.

Given JR's stentorian opposition to the Republican nominee and the only remaining alternative to Obama, your notion of a fist hitting back doesn't work too well.

That is why I love you so much!

But in my defense, when I rejoined TOS it was when barry the manchild had started his treasonous and deadly route. Think of Luke Skywalker when Darth Vader was throwing all that crap at him.

You may know now that we have problems at TOS -- the fabric is tearing as people ask hard questions.

But I know at least here you won't retroactively apply standards of facts not in evidence when I made my decision. At least if this is the intellectual bastion I upon which I have so anchored myself.

And FWIIW, I am still working through the "how in the hell do we deal with McCain^2" issue. There is no good answer and I am probably going to have to go against JR and suggest we once again vote McCain^2...

I am confident Romney will gi on the attack against Zero, unlike McCain.

Once upon a time there was a group of people who decided that they should start or join a little site called “Darwin Central”. On or off the web, I have never seen a more eclectic, fun, smart, funny, group of people ever. I could not wait to log in to see what was going on. We gave a damn about each other feelings (almost no flame wars – pretty much unheard-of on the web), liked each other, and generally made it a home away from home.

Queue to today: I see lots of “fuck you”, troll, and many other uncivil exchanges. We lost something along the way. Not exactly sure why, but the DC of old is fading fast.

I think the economy, war, home-life (many have had a rough go of it as of late), the unbelievably nasty primaries, medical issues, etc. have taken their toll and it spilled over on to DC. We even lost a treasured member due to his passing away. He would log in from his hospital bed in horrible pain and unable to even speak yet he never once complained on the site. DC was a haven from the pain and torments of living. If DC fails as a site tomorrow at least that one thing would have made it all worth it.

These days; instead of “I can’t wait” it is now “I dread what I am going to see this time” every time I log in.

My fondest wish (even more than me being out of pain which has now become 24/7) is that we can turn the clock back. But it is up to all of you to acomplish such.

Would not work. You would also have to ban all hints and allusions - and there are millenia-old techniques for using these [perfected in Confucian China, among other places]. Remember, the beauty is in the eye of beholder, and that could always be used to advantage.

Absolutely correct. Observe the decorum. Everyone should be wearing top hats and gloves [if only because slapping faces with gloves could be more picturesque].
