A very good super bowl game

Eli Manning did it again with a 4th quarter drive to win the Super Bowl and one of the strangest plays I have ever seen in football. Bradshaw scored a touchdown he was told not to score. The New England defense was ordered to let him score to keep time on the clock for Brady and Bradshaw was told to down it at the one yard line to run out the clock for a last second field goal. Bradshaw didn't succeed in not scoring and kind of rolled inadvertently into the end zone. Truly bizarre!

Well, Tom Brady got his ass sat down across the goal-line in his first drive, ... so it's all even, right?

Not only that, but Brady still would have gotten the ball back with about 30 seconds (but no timeouts). However under that scenario he would have just needed to get them into FG range.

The first thing I thought of when I saw that was the famous Roger Levesque goal celebration when he inexplicably managed to steal the ball (and goal) from a keeper in MLS last year. The "scuba" maneuver.

Levesque is a mediocre player, no doubt about it. But he is a fan favorite because he poaches some of the most implausible goals and is known for some of the best goal celebrations in the soccer universe. If you can't be good at least you can be fabulous.

Now that final TD makes sense. That's all we saw over here on the news this morning and they didn't explain why the Pats defence opened up in front of the NY rusher. It looked as if they were the worst team ever if you didn't understand the context.
