San Francisco bans Happy Meals
San Francisco's board of supervisors has voted, by a veto-proof margin, to ban most of McDonald's Happy Meals as they are now served in the restaurants.
The measure will make San Francisco the first major city in the country to forbid restaurants from offering a free toy with meals that contain more than set levels of calories, sugar and fat.
...
"We're part of a movement that is moving forward an agenda of food justice," said Supervisor Eric Mar, who sponsored the measure. "From San Francisco to New York City, the epidemic of childhood obesity in this country is making our kids sick, particularly kids from low income neighborhoods, at an alarming rate. It's a survival issue and a day-to-day issue."

I have a solution. Pay the bums that normally sleep on the lawn of city hall to pick up the bags. Two problems solved!
The bums had to stink up the library today as the Giants had their WS rally at Civic Center, where the lawn is.

Mayor McCheese would be portrayed as a fascist. The Hamburglar would be a People's Hero, liberating excess profits from the cash register. Ronald would be an Evil Clown. Instead of sponsoring Ronald McDonald House Charities, there would be donation boxes to support abortion clinics and the ACLU.

Isn't the Crappy Meal covered under interstate commerce?
Of all the ways the scuzzy SCOTUS and congress abuse that clause, this would seem to fit in realistically.
Maybe I am reading it wrong, so maybe someone can clear this up.

Pretty much everything is covered under the commerce clause, which permits the fed to regulate, but does NOT automatically preempt local regulation.

They will be coming around with their hands out. Eff them baboons as Senor Slob says.

They are absolutely counting on getting bailed out. The recently passed sham budget (which was due July 1) includes several billion federal bailout dollars as expected revenue. From what I've been reading, it's highly unlikely that it will be forthcoming. Yes, point to California as what other states can expect to happen if the statist agendas are allowed to advance elsewhere.
