The first time I ever watched Monty Python's Flying Circus was on the CBC, before the show got popular in the states. I remember thinking at the time that the jokes I got were so good, the ones I didn't get must be because you had to be a Brit to know what they are basing the joke on. Reading Darwin Central is a lot like that. If the reply isn't some insider thing, it's likely to be based on shared experiences a generation or two removed from mine. Maybe that's why there aren't many flame wars on DC: there's no guarantee anyone knows what the obscure comments mean.
